PanoraMED held the second meeting with Associated Partners in Brussels
On 23 January 2019, the second meeting between PANORAMED partners and PANORAMED Associated Partners took place in Brussels. Representatives from the Interreg V-B Balkan-Mediterranean Programme, UNEP MAP, INTERACT, UfM, CPMR, DG MARE and the WESTMED Initiative attended the session, which was chaired by PANORAMED’s Liaising leader. This meeting followed from their first meeting in April 2018 in Rome and a virtual meeting held last month.
During the meeting, partners reviewed PANORAMED’s activities over the past year and stressed the importance of finding complementarities and synergies to improve governance in the Mediterranean. In this sense, the Liaising leader presented a roadmap on complementarities and potential synergies among strategies, initiatives, programmes and projects in the region. In addition, the leaders of the thematic working groups on Coastal & Maritime Tourism and on Maritime Surveillance explained their work done so far for the preparation of Terms of Reference (ToR) for new Strategic Projects -in cooperation with the leader of the ToR team- and the Gaps and Opportunities Report for the two thematic areas.
Associates appreciated the fact that PANORAMED engages non-EU countries, and highlighted huge possibilities for interaction with partners. They maintained an extended conversation regarding future events, meetings and other occasions for PANORAMED to join and participate.
Overall, it was a successful meeting which evidenced the shared interest of the participants in cooperating for advancing the common goal of improving governance in the Mediterranean region.
