PANORAMED will participate in the European Week of Regions and Cities 2019 in Brussels. The Region of Crete, as Liaising Leader, submitted a proposal for a 'PANORAMED Participatory Lab' in the thematic cluster 'The future of the EU and the roles of the Regions and Cities' which has been approved, and here we are!

'Europe 2030 Laboratory' is an interactive session aiming to simulate an informal EU lively debate on Maritime Coastal Tourism, Maritime Surveillance and Innovation, critical topics for the future of the Mediterranean region. The main objective of the 'Europe 2030 Laboratory' is to involve policymakers at local, regional and European level in a wide multi-level debate on the topics of PANORAMED from the northern and southern shore of the Mediterranean, about the prospects in the region. To illustrate the multi-level dimension, the session will count, as key participants, on representatives of:

  • PANORAMED project partners
  • Associated partners
  • Horizontal projects
  • The accompanying DGs, EU Parliament, Committee of the Regions
  • Institutional representatives of south shore countries

The 'Europe 2030 Laboratory' agenda includes the following topics:

  • Introduction: The PANORAMED (Interreg MED) Regional Partnership: consolidating a governance tool for the Mediterranean
  • Debate: the role of the Regions and Cities in the MED area in the post 2020 era with special attention to Maritime Surveillance, Maritime and Coastal Tourism, and Innovation.
  • Political session: Unlocking the potential of the MED area
  • Interaction with the audience
  • Technical Session: Implementing a 'Common Mediterranean Area' tool of governance for strengthening the political, economic and social links between the North and South shores of the Mediterranean basin
