The INTERACT's Med Lab Group will take place next 13 May in Palermo (Italy)

Once a year the Southern Europe and the Mediterranean programmes meet to discuss topics of their interest. The past editions were focused mainly on the governance of the area and on the connection between cooperation programmes and new initiatives such as WestMED and PANORAMED.

What is this event about?

The Med Lab Group will focus on the topic of coastal tourism as a common theme for many Interreg and neighbourhood (ENI CBC) programmes operating in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean area.

As an associated partner of PANORAMED, INTERACT wants to support the work done by the Thematic Working Group on Coastal Tourism, presenting the recently launched call for proposals as well as the desk research behind it.

During the conference, the most innovative experiences in coastal tourism will be shared. Moreover, the event will tackle the main threats this sector is facing and also the opportunities available as an attractive economic growing field in the Mediterranean area.

Attendees will have the unique opportunity of visiting “Tourismed project” in Trabia (Interreg MED) to experience fishing tourism themselves as a new tourism model.

This event will be back to back  to the WestMED Workshop in “Developing the Blue Economy” held next 14 May and also focused on Tourism as one of the main topics of discussion.
