The Greek Country Coordinator of PANORAMED took part in the Political Seminar of the CPMR Intermediterranean Commission
The Greek Country Coordinator of PANORAMED, Mrs. Stavroula Pelekasi, participated in the Political Seminar that took place on the second day of the General Assembly of the CPMR Intermediterranean Commission in Patras on the 29.06.2018. The Greek Country Coordinator intervened at Session III which focused on improving multilevel governance, ensuring synergies between territorial cooperation programmes and capitalizing on the projects’ results in the Mediterranean basin, with an emphasis on maritime issues.
In the intervention, it was highlighted that PANORAMED represents an exceptional transnational forum that covers the entire Mediterranean basin gathering together the key institutions, stakeholders, initiatives, programmes and strategies active in the area. It was also noted that one of the key pillars of PANORAMED is its associated partners’ scheme -CPMR is one of them- as well as the accompanying role of DG REGIO, DG MARE and DG NEAR.
PANORAMED promotes a systemic vision of the Mediterranean policies and sharing of governance tools and strengthens the relationships among institutions. In this objective, PANORAMED will identify strategic projects in the areas of maritime and coastal tourism and maritime surveillance.
The added value of PANORAMED is the opportunity to offer a dialogue forum that tests how concrete synergies and complementarities can be realised in the Mediterranean. This is of key importance in the post 2020 proposed framework.
