The Region of Crete organized an online Regional Stakeholders Meeting on Friday July 9th, 2021, in the framework of PANORAMED. The event was targeted on local and regional actor working in the fields of governance, coastal tourism, maritime surveillance, innovation, migration.
After the welcome of the participants by G. Alexakis, Vice-governor for European and International Affairs, and K. Kotsoglou, Member of the Regional Council responsible for Tourism and e-Governance, the three Key Policy Papers of PANORAMED as well as the Best practices transferability report on Migration in the Mediterranean were presented by the representatives of the respective Thematic Working Groups of PANORAMED, followed by vibrant Q&A sessions.
Next, the participants had the opportunity to watch a presentation on the national tourism policies and the strategic projects SMARTMED and BESTMED in relation with the KPP of PANORAMED given by E. Apostolopoulou from the Greek Ministry of Tourism. Then, A. Giannakourou, from the Hellenic Center for Marine Research, presented the strategic project BLUE BIO MED in relation with the KPP of PANORAMED on Innovation in the Mediterranean and S. Niavis (External expert of Region of Crete) gave an overview of the work done so far in the framework of the Mediterranean Policy Paper.
The aim of the meeting was to inform the regional stakeholders about the important conclusions that have emerged from the project so far during its implementation stages, regarding the policies around coastal tourism, maritime surveillance, innovation, and migration.
