In April and May 2021, Generalitat de Catalunya organized and hosted, in collaboration with Emilia Romagna Region and ENEA, two workshops for the PanoraMED Strategic Projects (BLUE BIO MED and B-BLUE projects). The workshops served two main objectives:
• The first was to provide tools for facilitating participative online workshops
• The second was to start building a common conceptual framework for the two Strategic Projects and Panoramed, aimed at transformative systems innovation, providing tools to navigate the complexity of transformative processes and transitions.
In order to serve the workshops’ objectives, both workshops were structured following a participatory and reflective learning approach.
As mentioned before, the workshops were organized to advance participants' knowledge and understanding of new tools, methods, and frameworks to navigate complexity and conduct participatory processes, which are important to move towards a transformative systems innovation. If woven together, these new practices have the potential to build and activate collective intelligence and foster individual and collaborative practices to tackle shared challenges.
The first workshop focused on introducing key frameworks, such as the Multilevel Perspective, the Two Loops Model, and the Transformative Shared Agendas for Sustainability and Social Change. Besides this, participants were able to try out different tools to facilitate participatory workshops, and they were left with some tools to design their workshops.
During the second workshop, part of the session served to revisit some of the key concepts that were touched upon during the first workshop. Subsequently, new frameworks, methods, and tools were presented, such as the Cynefin Framework and Levels of Listening. In the rest of the session, participants were invited to be part of an Open Space, where they were able to self-organize and choose the topics they wanted to gain more understanding.
To know more about the topics, tools, and methods that were explored during the workshops, you can find them summarised in the following document.
